JULY 19 READING…1 CORINTHIANS 12
The human body is a diversity of unity. Meaning it has many different parts that make up the whole of the body. These parts are not fluid, in that each part is what it is…a hand cannot become a foot, nor a ear become a mouth. Each part of the body is what it is, and together they make up one body. When each part does what God designed it to do, the body functions properly and is healthy. Trouble comes for us when one part of the body is not working properly, or is sick. God intended for us to look at the miracle of the diverse unity of the human body, and consider that is what He has designed for His church. Many differently gifted people, making up one church. Each person walking in submission to the Holy Spirit’s call, and sharing the giftedness that God has given them. When this happens the church is healthy and functioning as God intended. Not all of us have the same giftedness, and that is by design. That we are all different requires us to depend on each other, as we depend upon the Lord. We need one another in the church…and we need everyone to walk and share their giftedness to the whole church. Envy and jealousy have no place in the church, rather we celebrate the unique gifts of all parts of body of Christ. A strong and healthy church edifies every part of the church body…being thankful to God for putting the church together.
