JULY 14 READING…PSALM 89 & LUKE 2
The Psalmist remembers the covenant that God made with David…including the promise of Messiah who would come from the seed of David. His, the Messiah’s, throne will be established forever. The Messiah’s coming will bring the praises of heaven to God. We see this in Luke 2 as the heavenly host sang…”Glory to God in the highest…” Jesus, Messiah, came to affirm the promise of God’s covenant with David…and He came to establish His new covenant with all mankind, that would believe in Him. Those who break the law of God will be punished…but the Lord’s grace and forgiveness will be given to those who believe. Though the Messiah would have enemies…He will all the more have His people. Luke tells us of the first Advent of Christ. He came in a humble, but glorious manner. In an animal stall He was born, while all of heaven rejoiced. He was surrounded by the lowly shepherds…for it was for the lowly He came. He was presented in the Temple as all orthodox Jewish boys were, but this was special, as two saints of God, Simeon and Anna, are privileged to bear witness of Messiah. Jesus then grows in wisdom, and stature, and in favor with God and men. Thank you Messiah Jesus, for coming for us…thank You for coming for me.
