JANUARY 3 READING...MATTHEW 3
This chapter reminds us that you and I don’t exist by mistake, and that God has a plan for our lives. We were created by Him, and we were created for Him. We exist at this time in human history according to the will of God. Like John the baptizer, we exist to make the Lord known in our generation. We exist to share the truth in a world that has rejected the truth. Truth is never subjective…by definition truth would have to be objective. Truth is not dependent upon our acceptance, nor our rejection. God has place us here to share truth to this generation. John was put on earth at just the right time to be the forerunner of the Messiah. His message of truth was a call to repentance, for the kingdom of God was at hand. The kingdom of God, embodied in Jesus had entered the world…and people were called to come to Him. God validated the ministry and the message of John the baptizer by having Jesus come to John to be baptized. The word baptize not only speaks of being immersed, but it also means to identify with. Of all the prophets Jesus chose to identify with John in allowing John to baptize Him. God validates those who are His own. This does not mean that the world will validate us…as a matter of fact, we can expect that the world will not. But, if we are God’s people He will validate us…and that should be more than enough for us. You are not here by accident, you were not meant to be here at another time…you a part of God’s wonderful plan to share His truth in a lost and dark world.
Please share your thoughts.
