JANUARY 12, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

JANUARY 12 READING…MATTHEW 10

In our readings today, Jesus picks His disciples. We see in this passage three things…the call, the assignment, and the warning. We start with the call. Looking at these twelve they seem like an unlikely group to build your ministry around. The Lord is always doing that. When I looking the mirror, many times I ask the Lord why He called me…there so many better speakers, leaders, and talented men. He certainly knows what my heart is like, and my sinfulness. Yet He called me…if there is anything I’m certain of in this life, it’s His call. He has called you too. Not because He necessarily needs you or me, but because He loves us, and has privileged us to be part of His great kingdom work. The important thing to remember is that it is the Lord who sets our assignments. He did that with the disciples, and He does it with us. Though we all have the same commission, to go into the whole world and share the Gospel, we don’t all have the exact same assignment. The Lord decides what that will be for each of us…and we find fulfillment in our Christian life by walking in our assignment. Finally, the Lord who has called us, and who has assigned us, now gives us a warning. We will be sent out among the wolves. Satan and his followers don’t play by the rules. They are evil, and like Satan, they intend to destroy anything that is godly, or comes from God. We must be aware of them, but we don’t have to fear them. For we have Jesus…what or who should we ever fear?

Please share your thoughts.
