FEBRUARY 12 READING…MARK 3
Has your friends or family thought that you were out of your mind because you follow Jesus? I guarantee you if your brand of “Christianity” allows you to follow Jesus in a casual manner you will not have to worry about being labeled radical or “out of your mind”. But if you follow the Lord with your whole heart, you will see opposition even from those who are supposed to be closest to you. They will probably not come right out and call you crazy, but they might say something like, “you need to tone it down”, or, “you really shouldn’t take your religion so seriously”. Jesus faced this kind of thing from those who were supposed to be His friends and family. They even tried to lay hands on Him and put Him away as they declared that He was out of His mind…why? Well, He healed on the Sabbath in opposition to the standard religious practice of that day. The tide of religious opinion turned against Him, so much so that the religious elite said that He was possessed and did His miracles by the power of Satan. They blasphemed the Lord by not only rejecting Jesus as Messiah, but also by attributing the work of the Lord to Satan. His family might have also thought He was out of His mind as He established a new family order. One not based on human blood, but one based in faith. Who are my brothers and sisters? Those who do the will of God. If you believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior…if you follow Him as your Messiah…if you serve Him with all that you have, you and I are in the same family. And my brothers and sisters…it is the greatest family to belong to.
Please share your thoughts.
