FEBRUARY 11 READING…EXODUS 25-26 & 1 PETER 5
Today’s theme…it is the Lord who determines how we come to Him, what we bring to Him, and how we serve Him. Religious minded people want to tell God what they will bring to Him, and what they will do for Him. The religious minded person has deceived themselves into believing that they are in control, not God. They believe God exists to serve them…to answer every prayer just like the want…and be their ”genie” in the sky, obeying their every command. We exist for God, we are here because He said so, not the other way around. Surely God pours blessings into our lives…answers our prayers…and does great things for us we could never do ourselves. But, not because we say so…but, because of His greats and amazing grace.
The Lord instructs Moses concerning the need to build a portable sanctuary as a place where the sacrifices could be brought, and as a place to meet the Lord. God tells Moses to have the people give an offering, and God tells them what offering to bring. We don’t bring leftovers to God, we bring what He requires. God then instructs Moses on the building of the Ark of the Covenant, the table of show bread, the gold lamp stand, and the Tabernacle itself. All is designed by God, not by man for God…for it is God’s tabernacle, not man’s. Peter reminds us that we are to do things God’s way, for it is His church. He instructs the elders to shepherd (pastor) the flock(people)…and to do it out of love for the Lord and His people. He instructs all believers to live lives submitted to God…always resisting the devil. And a to do all things from a place of humility, not pride. This is God’s way…and He is Lord of the church.
Please share your thoughts.
