DECEMBER 4 READING…REVELATION 5
John continues to speak of what he is seeing in heaven. God the Father is on the throne and in His hand is a scroll that is closed by seven seals. A mighty angel begins to lament that it seems to that no one is worthy to take the scrolls and break the seals to see what is inside. No angel in heaven, nor any human on earth is worthy to take the scroll from the hand of God. One of the elders stops the mighty angel from his lamenting, by directing his attention to the truth that Messiah, the Lion of Judah, the Root of David has prevailed and is worthy to open the scroll. John then sees in the midst of the elders a Lamb that had been slain, but was living…who was the fullness of the seven-fold Spirit of God. He was seeing the Resurrected Christ…the One who was killed on the cross of Calvary, now in heaven alive…still carrying in His Resurrected body the scars of His sacrifice. Jesus takes the scroll from the hand of His Father, which causes the elders and the four living creatures to fall down and worship the Lamb. Then all heaven joined in the worship of Jesus Messiah. We daily ought to join with the worship of heaven to Jesus Christ, the only One who is worthy…the Lamb of God who was slain for our sin…who overcame death and is alive forever more! Amen.
