DECEMBER 3 READING…NEHEMIAH 10 & ACTS 22
Back in the land of Judah. The walls of Jerusalem have been rebuilt, and the people are building their homes within the walls of the city. For the first time in a long time the people have heard the Word of God read… and their initial response is to repent before God. The people were still living under the conditional covenant that God made with King David. They were to worship God only…they were to walk in the truth of God’s laws…they were not to make any agreements with the enemies of God who remained in the land…and they were to trust God for their protection. The people once again entered into this covenant with God, saying they would keep their part of the covenant. In Acts, Paul continues to share his testimony of faith. In the midst of being imprisoned, he was not attempting to defend himself as much as he wanted them to know the power of God to change lives…he encouraged them to look at what the Lord had done for him. He concludes his testimony with the call of God for him to share the Gospel with the Gentiles. This made them mad, and they called for the death of Paul for making such a statement. The Centurion brought Paul into the barracks of the Roman soldiers for his protection…and once again Paul used the opportunity to share the Gospel. We cannot always choose our situation or circumstances…but we can choose how we will respond, and whether or not we will take the opportunity to glorify God.
Please share your thoughts.
