DECEMBER 2, 2023 ~ THEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

DECEMBER 2 READING…NEHEMIAH 8-9 & ACTS 21

Imagine whole generations who have neither heard, much less read the Bible. We really don’t have to imagine it, we are living in the midst of it. Judah was in captivity and they neglected the Word of God…our generation is in captivity to the things of this world and they are neglecting the Word of God. Ezra was a priest and he brought out the Pentateuch and read it to the people. Their hearts were convicted, and began to confess their sins to the Lord. Their confession was both an individual one, and a corporate one. While it is true we cannot confess and repent of anyone else’s sin, there is a need to confess the sins of any group we are part of, including our nation. It was the Word of God, by the power of the Holy Spirit that brought Judah to repentance. The same is desperately needed in our generation. People are starving to death spiritually, because they are not receiving the Bread of life. In Acts, the religious leaders were serious about stopping Paul from continuing to fulfill his God-given mission. They intended to have him killed on his way to Jerusalem…but word got to him. A group of friends tried to dissuade him, but Paul was going to follow the leadership of the Spirit, even if it meant his death. Paul was put upon in Jerusalem…and as much for his protection, as it was for him causing a riot, he was arrested. Once again, he used this as an opportunity to share about Jesus. We need to use every opportunity to share about Jesus, the world needs to know…and without Him, they will perish

Please share your thoughts.
