DECEMBER 17 READING…ISAIAH 17-21 & REVELATION 8
The Lord instructs Isaiah to prophecy against those nations that came against Israel…especially Babylon. Though they were used by God to discipline His people, they went way too far. God called them for a specific purpose, and gave them what they needed to accomplish His purpose…but they went beyond what He would allow. In doing so, they brought the judgment of God upon themselves. God is the judge of every nation, and every nation will be judge according to the righteous judgment of God. Revelation 8 brings the breaking of the seventh seal by Jesus, and the judgment of God is brought upon the earth, illustrated by an angel taking the censer filled with fire from the altar of God and throwing it to the earth. This begins the seven trumpet judgments, four of which we are told about in this chapter. These first four judgments destroy one-third of earth’s vegetation…one -third of sea life…one-third of the fresh water…and one-third of the light produced by the sun, moon, and stars is gone. The only hope to miss this judgment is to put your trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord. I sure hope you have done this.
