AUGUST 9 READING…2 CORINTHIANS 11
Our Christian faith by design requires us to be faithful. We realize we cannot possibly do this apart from the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. But, it also requires a willingness on our part to live surrendered to the Spirit, because He will always lead us to righteousness and faithfulness. Paul challenged the church at Corinth to remain faithful in all things. He did this because he loved them, and because their faithfulness would be a testimony of Christ to the lost of their city. Paul compared himself to the false apostles…and warned the church to refrain from following them. Paul affirmed his own apostleship, not to boast, but that the church would understand that they were required to submit themselves to his leadership as he taught them the truth of Jesus. He calls for strength in these troubled days…as the truth is that in this world the days are always filled with trouble for the genuine followers of Christ. Jesus said it would be that way.
