AUGUST 8 READING…2 CHRONICLES 4-6 & PSALM 132
The work of the Temple is being completed, and the time has come to bring the Ark of the Covenant into the Temple, and place it in the Holy of Holies. Once the Ark is placed we are told that the glory of the Lord fills the Temple. God is very present, by His Spirit, in the Temple. Then Solomon gives a challenging sermon to the people, and stood before the nation and Lord and offered a prayer. Oh, that we would have such leaders today. Leaders who are willing to humble themselves before the Lord, and the people they serve. Leaders who genuinely sought the Lord…and lead people in the way of the Lord. Our nation, and the world for the most part, are absent this kind of humble leadership. Leaders doing what is godly…and leaders doing what is best for the people. In Psalms, we have a praise to the God of David who has provided all that we have. The Lord has chosen Zion as His city…the place where He would meet his people, Israel. We too are chosen of God…and He has promised He would meet each of us individually as we seek Him…and He would meet us corporately as we gather to worship His holy Name.
