AUGUST 28 READING…JOB 7-9 & PSALM 38
The smartest person in the room is the one not going through hard times, yet counseling the person who is? This can become toxic when dealing with another’s walk with God. The one in peace tends to blame the one in turmoil for the situation they are in. It may or may not be true that they have done something to bring trouble upon themselves, regardless to blame them for their misery seems to be most people’s approach. We so many times cannot just love them through their time of troubles, we have to point out why we think they are in them, then we have to tell them how they could “fix” it. When the Lord puts us in someone else’s life who is going through the fire, we need to tread carefully in our counsel, so that we don’t add fuel to their fire. Job had no one who would minister to him, all he had was so-called friends to “comfort” him with their words of wisdom. Job was in a bad situation, it must have been that he sinned against God…and all he needed to do was repent and things would be good again. One problem…even God never said that Job sinned against Him. Many times, we just need to sit with others, and love them as they walk through their hard times…we have to stop trying fix them, while if we were honest we would confess that we don’t really have it all together. Once again in Psalms we have a prayer asking the Lord for His presence and comfort as we humans walk through this life filled with heartache and pain. This world is not a place of comfort…but we have a God who is the Lord of all comfort. He is the God who gives us peace in the midst of the storms that the world cannot know.
Please share your thoughts.
