AUGUST 2 READING…2 CORINTHIANS 3
I remember many years ago a lady telling me that genuine salvation did not require a changed life. My response was that genuine biblical salvation will ALWAYS bring a changed life. The Lord does not save us to leave us the way He found us. This changed life in the life of true believers, Paul calls…” manifestly an epistle of Christ”. In other words, our lives should look like a book right out of the Bible…it is to be an open letter testifying to the power of Christ to change us. We live this way as we understand that our sufficiency is from God.
What Jesus has brought to us in the New Covenant is the ability to be involved in the ministry of Christ. It’s not about empowered by the law, but by the Spirit. That is not to say that there is a conflict between the law and the Holy Spirit. It’s just that all the law could ever do was to condemn us, because we are all guilty of breaking the law. While the Spirit brings us life from our condemnation…He does this by bringing us to faith in Jesus Christ. Remember the law reveals two things…First, the righteousness of God; second, the unrighteousness of mankind. The Spirit brings us right into the presence of God, enabling us to have that intimate relationship with Him. He has removed the veil…we literally get to have full communion with God our Creator and Father. And this relationship with God works in us to make us into the image of the Lord Jesus. This is the process of sanctification by the Spirit of God.
