AUGUST 19 READING…2 CHRONICLES 33-34 & PSALM 16
It is said that a people are just one generation from having any knowledge of God. All it takes is for there to be leaders who are so evil that they reject God, and do everything in their power to make it illegal to teach and even speak about God. These kinds of leaders are evil, and are about the destruction of the people. They fool themselves into thinking they can remove or destroy God. While their ungodly influence certainly has a horrible effect on the people and the nation, we know that the Lord always has a remnant and a plan that He will bring to fulfillment. Judah’s evil king was Manasseh, followed by Amon. These two were the final nail in the coffin for the judgment of God to fall on Judah. God did raise up Josiah, who was a good king…it was in his day that the last vestige of revival took place in Judah, when Hilkiah finds the book of the law of God that had been put away and reads it the people. There is a restoration for a period of time under Josiah of true worship to God. The Psalmist reminds us that there is only one true God. That even if people, no matter their stature, go after other gods, they will face the judgment of God. The Psalmist finishes his writing by speaking of the resurrection promise to all who believe in the Lord. We are reminded by him that we are not created for a moment, or even a lifetime here on earth…but for eternal life with the Lord. I hope you have that assurance…that you have put your faith and trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Please share your thoughts.
