AUGUST 11 READING…2 CHRONICLES 13-15 & PSALM 138 & 2 THESSALONIANS 1
Those that rebel against the Lord, and reject Him will suffer judgment. There are always dire consequences for those who live their lives in opposition to God, and all that is godly. Likewise, those who are responsive to the Lord, and obey Him, shall be blessed. Jeroboam the rebellious king of Israel, suffer great defeat at the hands of Judah, even though Jeroboam held every advantage. This defeat ultimately destroyed him. Abijam, obeyed the Lord, spoke the word of the Lord, and saw the victory. He was followed by Asa, who obeyed the Lord, and brought reforms to Judah. Both these kings saw God answer their prayers and bless them. In Psalms we are reminded that God hears the prayers of His people, and answers them. God rescues His people when there is no rescue. In 2 Thessalonians, Paul reminds us of the judgment that is coming on this earth. Yes, God is a God of grace and forgiveness to those who seek Him…but He is also holy and righteous. Judgment will fall on those who rebelliously reject the One who created them.
