APRIL 24, 2023 ~ THEMATIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE

APRIL 24 READING…JOSHUA 13-14 & PROVERBS 24

God sets the boundaries for all things. It is God who sets the boundaries for His people, and the truth is, we need boundaries. In Joshua, God tells each tribe what the boundaries of their particular land would be. We are reminded of this in the book of Acts, where again, we are told that God sets the boundaries for all people. In our personal lives we also need boundaries…these are not just from a geographical perspective. Without boundaries we would wander in the darkness, and always be headed for trouble. A good parent is able to establish boundaries for their children. Sadly, this is becoming less and less prevalent in our day and time. I have seen little children tell their grown parents what they will and will not do. These incompetent parents are harming their children by refusing to set boundaries for them to protect them from their own poor decisions, and harm from others. In Proverbs, we are told not to be envious of evil men who have no boundaries. We are to walk in the wisdom the Lord provides…this sets our boundaries for our behavior. We are called to stand and deliver those who are heading to the slaughter. We are also reminded that though a righteous person may fall seven times, they will rise back up in the strength of the Lord. Don’t show partiality, do not provide a false witness, and do not render evil for evil. Finally, we are warned not to be lazy, for laziness results in poverty.
