APRIL 23, 2021 ~ JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE CHRONOLOGICALLY

APRIL 23 READINGS...2 Samuel 6:12a & 1 Chronicles 15:1-28 & 2 Samuel 6:12b-16 & 1 Chronicles 15:29 & 2 Samuel 6:17-19a & 1 Chronicles 16:1-43 & 2 Samuel 6:19b-23

It is time to bring the Ark of the Lord to Jerusalem...and this time to do it the right way. David realized that the Lord had instructed Moses who was to carry the Ark, and how it was to be carried. David had prepared a special tent for the Ark in Jerusalem...and he would have the proper Levites bring the Ark, and care for it from that time forward. The Tabernacle was in Gideon, so David made sure that both in Jerusalem and in Gideon there would be Levites to perform their priestly duties. The Lord was blessing David...so much so that everything he did was blessed. We see that David does have a genuine heart for God...something that was missing with Saul.

When God is blessing, and when one is praising and thanking God for His blessings there will always be naysayers. Don’t be surprised that they might be in your home, or in your church. We expect the world to find us a peculiar people as we worship our God...but it is unexpected that those who are part of the family would see us that way. For David it was Michal, his wife, the daughter of Saul. So many things had happened to this lady that it seems she pretty much hated David...and took the opportunity of his dancing and rejoicing before the Lord at the bringing of the Ark to Jerusalem to both show and speak her contempt of him. It seems Michal spent the rest of her life in bitterness with no joy. David did not let her words discourage him from his worship of God...and we should never let the naysayers keep us from being involved in Holy Spirit led worship. The Lord deserves our worship and so much more...never be ashamed to worship the Lord. Some may not get it...as a matter of fact some will never get it...worship the Lord anyway!

Please share your thoughts from today’s readings.
