APRIL 2, 2024 ~ A WALK THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT

APRIL 2 READING…LUKE 3

Jesus is brought before Pilate by the religious leaders, who then sends Him to Herod. Herod then sends Jesus back to Pilate, after he and his court humiliate Jesus. Pilate under extreme pressure by the crowd, which was incited by the religious leaders, gives in and has Jesus crucified. After whipping Jesus, they make Him carry His cross through the streets of Jerusalem. When Jesus could no longer carry the burden, they compelled a man named Simon of Cyrene to carry the cross. Jesus on the cross asks the Lord to forgive even those who were crucifying Him. On the cross they continued to mock and ridicule Jesus. One of the thieves that was crucified with Jesus called out to Jesus for salvation…and there on the cross Jesus gave that man eternal life. Even one of the centurions that was there was so moved by what he saw and heard, he declared that Jesus was the Son of God. Jesus was taken down off the cross, and Joseph of Arimathea took Jesus’ body to his own family tomb, and they placed Jesus’ body in the tomb. Because of the high holy day, they could not prepare Jesus’ body, but would come back after the Sabbath.
