APRIL 19 READING…JOSHUA 3-5 & PROVERBS 19
Today’s theme is trusting God. We evangelicals are great at trusting in God, that is responding to the Lord for our eternal salvation. Where many have trouble is being able to trust God for everyday life. Do we trust God for not only provision for eternity, but for provision for today? Do we trust God for guidance and instruction for today? Proof that we trust God is seen in following His guidance, and obeying His instruction. Joshua, Rahab, and ultimately the people of Israel had to trust God for the situation that was before them. Rahab had to trust God for the security and safety of her family. Joshua had to trust God for the instructions He received in taking the city of Jericho…never was there a battle plan like the one God gave to Joshua. The people had to trust God as they entered a new land, that He would fulfill His promise to give them the land. In Proverbs, we are warned again about our need trust God in every area of life. We are to trust God as we walk in integrity before others. We are to trust God by keeping His commands. We are to trust God by doing things His way, and not the normal way of mankind. We are to trust God by listening to His instruction, and then following it. We are to do this even if we cannot figure out the results. When we trust God, we understand the result belongs to Him…we are to simply trust Him. Many years ago, I remember Charles Stanley (who is now with the Lord) say to a group of we pastors… “Men your call is to preach the Word, and let the chips fall where they may…the chips belong to God.” He was telling us to trust God, as God had called us to preach His Word faithfully…the results belong to Him.
Please share your thoughts.
