APRIL 12 READING…JOHN 7
As I read John chapter 7 the question that seems to be at the forefront of people about Jesus is, “ Who is He?”…and, “What am I to do with Him”. It seems to me that this is not just a question for them in that day, but that this is the eternal question. For though we will answer it in this temporal world…the impact of the right or wrong answer determines our eternity. Jesus’ own brothers did not initially believe in Him…though we know that at least two of them ultimately did as they pinned two of our New Testament books…James and Jude. Jesus revealed that His wisdom was from heaven, even though He had no formal training. This truth remains for us today…there is nothing wrong with formal training, but the most important things any of us can do is spend our time with God, and in His Word. People wanted Jesus to be Messiah, but they were not sure. They thought they knew where Jesus was from, so He couldn’t be the Messiah…when actually they did not know what they thought they knew. The religious elite had problems with Jesus…and this remains true today. Those in that day stood against Jesus, they hated Him, and they sought to kill Him. With their own words they condemned themselves as they rejected Jesus as Messiah. What about you and me…is Jesus our Messiah?
Please share your thoughts.
